もうすぐ節分の季節ですね！
節分は
皆さんはお家で豆をまきますか？
海外の人に節分を説明したいけど
どういえば伝わるかなあ…?
今回は節分をテーマに
使えるフレーズをご紹介していきます。
日本の節分を英語で説明してみよう
・In Japan, people scatter beans in the house on February 3rd.
（日本では2月３日にお家で豆まきをします。）
・While saying “Demons out ! , Fortune in !”
（「鬼は外、福は内」と言いながらまきます。）
・To ward off Demons(bad things) and call in fortune (good things).
（鬼（悪いもの）を追い払い、福（いいもの）を呼び込むためです。 ）
・They say you will stay in good health
if you eat the same amount of beans as your age.
（豆を歳の数食べると健康に過ごせるといわれています）
・On January 3rd people eat 恵方巻 in the direction of fortune.
（ 節分の日にはその年の縁起の良い方角を向いて恵方巻を食べます。）
そもそも”節分”とは？英語で表すと…
“節分”とはつまり
暦上で春が始まる日の前日のこと。
・暦上で春が始まる日→”立春”
・暦上で春が始まる日の前日→”節分”
なので節分を英語で表すと
The day before spring begins on the calendar.
になります。
（もしくはFebruary 3rd でも◎）
2022年,
暦の上で春が始まる日は2月4日ですので
節分はその前日の2月3日ということになります。
節分に使う道具を英語で説明してみよう
①福豆
Roasted soybeans are used for the Fuku Mame.
（福豆には炒った大豆が使われます。）
This is used to hit the demons.
（これを鬼にあてます。）
②マス
Masu is a square wooden box.
(マスは四角い木の箱です。)
It was used to measure rice and alcohol.
（かつて米や酒を測るものとして使われていました。）
The soy beans are put into the Masu.
（これに豆をいれます。）
③鬼のお面
Demon’s mask.
（鬼のお面）
The person who becomes the demon wears this mask.
（鬼役の人がこのお面をかぶります。）
④柊鰯（ヒイラギイワシ）
Hiiragi iwashi is a decoration made by sticking the head of a sardine onto a holly branch.
（ヒイラギイワシはいわしの頭をヒイラギの枝につけた飾り物です）
It has the effect of warding off demons.
（鬼を追い払う効果があります。）
Demons hate the holly thorns.
（鬼はヒイラギのトゲを嫌がるのです。）
The smoke and smell of roasted sardines drive away bad things.
（イワシを焼いた時の煙と臭いが悪いものを追い払います。）
It is used to decorate the entrance of the house.
(玄関に飾ります。)
⑤恵方巻
・恵方巻 is the sushi rolls eaten on February 3rd.
(恵方巻は節分に食べる巻きずしです。)
・There are rules you should obey
( そのときいくつかルールがあって、 )
・Eat the whole thing with out cutting
・Eat in silence
・Make a wish
(・切らずに１本丸ごと食べる
・黙って食べる
・願い事をする のが良いとされています。)
・”恵方” is the direction of fortune.
“恵方”とは縁起が良いとされている方角です。

または
